Roof Life Knows A Thing Or Two About Types Of Tiles

Aerial View

If you have a tile roof, you probably know that they take a special kind of maintenance. What you might not know is that there are several different types of tiles, and each one demands its own unique care.

Tile Roof

A tile is a concrete piece that is manufactured and replicated. The tiles on your roof are interchangeable with others of its type.

At Roof Life of Oregon, we can learn a lot about your roof just by looking at the type of tile that was installed. If we find that we’re looking at a Monier tile, for example, we know that we can walk on it and maintain it. Now, I wouldn’t recommend that just anyone get up on your roof and walk around, as it takes a certain finesse and some training.

There are other types of tiles that are much too porous and unstable to walk on. They’ll break with every step you take. Make sure you hire a roofing company that understands the qualities of different tiles.

The nice thing about most types of tiles and their interchangeability is that we can easily replace broken or damaged tiles on your roof. Once we identify the type and style, we remove the broken one and reinstall a new one. But don’t worry- it won’t stick out like a sore thumb! We’ll put it somewhere it isn’t easily seen and put a more weathered tile in its place to make sure your roof blends well.

We know tile roofs at Roof Life of Oregon. If you have any questions, call us or schedule a free well-care check-up for your tile roof.
