It’s always a shame when I’m driving down the road and see an otherwise beautiful home with big, green streaks running down the roof. Roof Life of Oregon can work to remove those streaks and treat your roof so that they don’t come back to haunt you.
There are metal deposits at the top of the gable of the roof and as water rushes over the zinc or copper, it actually sanitizes the bottom two feet of that strip of metal. So it cleans that section, but the rest of the roof is left to fend for itself. That’s when the moss and algae start to take over and those different sections leave a streaky appearance.
Algae doesn’t really have a root system, but other species of moss-like lichen moss and fungi, can attach themselves to the granules on an asphalt shingle and dislodge them, causing them to fall off. It can end up doing a lot of damage to your roof.
At Roof Life, we try to clean roofs as little as possible to minimize the negative impact over-cleaning can have on your roof. But we do have to clean that moss off first to get a base for our treatment. The treatment will kill any moss and lichen, and you’re left with a beautiful roof, rid of zebra-like streaks.
If you look up on your roof and see big streaks coming down, it’s a sure sign that you need to call us at Roof Life of Oregon so that we can get your roof looking beautiful again.
