What If My Roof Project Takes Longer Than Expected?

Aerial View

Sometimes your roofing project could take more time than you expected, simply due to weather or unforeseen issues.

Portland is a valley community. We have homes at all different sea levels, which means environments vary to a great degree. Right now we’re working on a guy’s house that is 1,100 feet above sea level. In normal weather, his project would take about three weeks, but because we’ve had freezing rain, it’s made the job take over a month and a half.

We’re at his house almost every day trying to get the job done, but sometimes we can’t even get up to him, because the hill is covered in ice. He’s ready for us to be done, and, believe me, so are we, but we aren’t going to rush the project and give him a subpar roof.

You want to take into consideration where you live and what type of weather you have throughout the year. If you know you get wind-driven rains in the winter, it might not be the best time to install a new roof.

It’s also important to remember that the cost to put on your roof will not change based on the amount of time it takes us to install it. The price is what it is, regardless if it takes two weeks or a month. And because our guys are paid hourly, they aren’t going to rush the job. We take our time to install a quality roof.

While it may be a bit of an inconvenience for you, good work takes time. And we can’t avoid the weather when it hits. Remember that your price will be the same, and you’ll be left with a beautiful roof for years.
